Kinja'd!!!

For my driver side rear rotor. Pad was faulty, went metal to metal, and took the rotor with it.

Tops the list for worst mechanical-related sound ever heard while driving.

Thats some good news, now it wont be as expensive to replace. Also, better this happened to the rear than the front.

Thanks for reminding me to check my own! I have a fear of this happening. The pad was pretty low a few months ago, but I haven’t heard any squealing sounds.

Hah, no problem. There was no squealing for me which makes me think it cracked or something catastrophic.

at least you took care of it right away. this isn’t my picture, but I’ve personally seen similar more than once:

Kinja'd!!!

amazing how many people just expect the noise to “go away.”

There was no way in hell this noise was going away! I still wish I knew what caused it though.
